National Grid Electricity customers can support the development of clean, renewable wind energy right here in our region – it’s easy!

Purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) through the GreenUp program. This REC-only product represents the environmental attributes of renewable energy generation sources and helps sustain and reinvest in the development of new renewable energy projects. For a typical Massachusetts home that uses 500 kilowatt-hours per month, participating in GreenUp with Community Energy will add $6 to $12 per month to your electric bill, depending on which option you choose. 

100% Option: 30% Wind / 70% Hydro
adds 2.4 cents/kWh on all usage
($12.00/month on average)

50% Option: 15% Wind / 35% Hydro
adds 1.2 cents/kWh on all usage
($6.00/month on average)

Your renewable energy service charge will appear right on your monthly National Grid electricity bill and is in addition to your standard electric bill charges. You are ensured the same National Grid quality and reliable service as always. As more customers sign up, more wind energy will be delivered to the power grid. This means cleaner air and water, greater energy independence, and a more secure energy future. Participation in the program can be cancelled at any time with no cancellation fee.
