Position Description
Community Energy is seeking an Associate to work with the Community Energy Ventures team, a new ventures unit led by the founders of Community Energy. Primary work will involve investigating broader global trends and opportunities in the clean energy transition, new clean energy technologies, and grid system models for power sector decarbonization in the next decade.  The research and analysis form the basis for industry and policy presentations and business plan development.  There is significant room for growth in the expanding field of clean energy.

The position is based in the Boulder, CO area and will work principally from home with the ability to work from an office as needed once the office opens back up.

Qualifications:
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (with High G.P.A. or Honors) in STEM or business
• Superior research, analytical and quantitative abilities
• Demonstrated interest in and experience with energy and innovation
• Professional presence and strong communication skills
• Self-directed with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment

Clean Energy Land/Development Associate — Southeast U.S.

Position Description

Community Energy is seeking to add a member to our team in a dynamic role.  You will be leading our efforts in select markets around the U.S. (primarily Southeast U.S.) to acquire land rights (long term leases or purchase options) to support development of utility scale solar farms.  You will also establish local relationships with the many stakeholders of each project (e.g. neighbors, community members, county officials, politicians, local engineers/attorneys, among others).

This role is very dependent on good relationship and trust building, negotiation skills, and collaborative/creative problem solving.

There is significant room for growth in the expanding field of clean energy.
 
Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience with land acquisition for development projects (ideally solar or energy related)
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • An appreciation and joy for dealing with landowners, and all people
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Negotiation Experience
  • Experience with project development, including zoning/permitting (a plus, not required)
  • Experience with electrical utilities (a plus, not required)
  • Team player with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment

Solar Development Analyst — Radnor, PA

Position Description

Community Energy is seeking to add a member to our team in a dynamic role that is both deeply analytical and will engage in real-world project development of community scale solar and storage projects, as well as cutting-edge demonstration projects that can advance our industry. 

This role will support the development community and distributed scale solar (and solar + storage) projects across the U.S., supporting all aspects of development including but not limited to: site identification and suitability analysis, land acquisition and negotiation, site optimization and design support, grid interconnection, permitting, community engagement, sale of electricity, and all aspects of making a project successful. 

This role will also support and lead analysis of market and project opportunities/strategies throughout the U.S.

There is significant room for growth in the expanding field of clean energy.

The position is based in Community Energy’s headquarters near Philadelphia, in Radnor, PA.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • At least one year of experience with solar energy, utility infrastructure, or energy related consulting
  • Superior research, analytical and quantitative abilities
  • Strategic and puzzle solving mindset
  • Ability to see the big picture
  • Ability to engage on the phone and in person with key external project stakeholders (landowners, permitting staff, utility staff, etc)
  • Demonstrated interest in and experience with energy and innovation
  • Self-directed with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • GIS experience – e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth (big plus, not required)
  • MS Excel (experience with macros a plus, not required)
  • Electrical Engineering and/or Interconnection Experience (a plus, not required)
  • Experience with land acquisition (a plus, not required)
  • Experience with project zoning / permitting (a plus, not a required)
