Community Energy Appoints Brent Beerley as Chief Executive Officer
RADNOR, PA – January 29, 2021 — Community Energy’s Board of Directors announced that Brent Beerley has been appointed Chief Executive Officer effective January 1st. Beerley has been with the company since 2001 and played a key role in the Company’s growth, first in wind and then solar development over the last two decades. Beerley has been President and led the management team since 2018. With his appointment as CEO, Beerley takes over full executive control of the Company.
Community Energy was cofounded in 1999 by Brent Alderfer and Eric Blank and led expansion of wind and solar generation at utility scale in the U.S. The Company has won awards for innovative project and market development as a leading independent renewable energy developer.
“Brent Beerley is the right person to continue our track record of delivering on ambitious and increasingly urgent clean energy goals” said founder Brent Alderfer. “He has the market, finance and executive experience to lead the Company in this new competitive era of renewable energy development.”
“It’s an honor to take over as CEO of Community Energy,” said Beerley. “Brent Alderfer and Eric Blank are pioneers in our industry and have created a legacy of innovation and leadership. Their dedication and mentorship over the last 20 years has built the foundation for our next chapter of growth in the face of an urgent climate crisis. We have a world class team – including a seasoned leadership team with an average tenure with the Company of 14 years – with a culture and commitment that makes taking on that challenge a pleasure.”
With Beerley’s appointment, cofounders Alderfer and Blank formally turn over executive control of the Company they founded and led over the past two decades. Blank, who has been a leader in Colorado energy policy, was recently appointed Chair of Colorado Public Utility Commission, a full-time position that began on January 12th of this year. Alderfer will continue as a director and advisor to the Company and pursue new initiatives and policies to accelerate the transition to a decarbonized economy.
