Fenner Wind Farm
Donna Griffin is proud to have wind turbines in her backyard. In fact, she sells T-shirts, sweatshirts, bumper stickers and key chains commemorating her 328-foot tall neighbors that silently generate clean, renewable electricity. The money she raises goes to the Fenner Renewable Energy, or FREE, Center, a local grassroots organization founded to educate the public on the benefits of renewable energy and other sustainable practices.
Locally Produced, Clean Energy
Since late 2001, these 20 wind turbines have spun majestically in this farming community about one hour southeast of Syracuse, New York. With the help of the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA), the Fenner Wind Farm has supplied renewable energy to customers all over the state of New York. NYSEG, National Grid, ConEdison Solutions and LIPA customers all have the opportunity to support this project through the various green power programs offered in partnership with Community Energy.
