Last week, at the Renewable Energy Markets conference in California, Franklin & Marshall College was awarded a national green power purchasing award from the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. The award was given to F&M for their market-leading Keystone Solar purchase along with their long-standing wind power commitment.
F&M recently became the first retail customer in Pennsylvania to commit to buying renewable energy credits from the Keystone Solar Project, which Community Energy plans to build in Lancaster County. The 6-megawatt, ground-mounted solar farm will be the first and largest utility-scale solar farm in PA and will produce 7,500 megawatt hours of electricity annually—the equivalent of powering 950 homes each year.
F&M embraced the opportunity to invest in a sustainable energy solution that has a local benefit to the community in Pennsylvania. The college also earned a PennFuture award as recognition for their work in promoting a clean energy future in Pennsylvania. We invite you to join F&M in sponsoring this local solar farm and leading the way for the solar market of the future.
