Community Energy Partner Named Loeb Fellow

Community Energy is proud to announce that the co-founders of our partner organization, The Canary Project, have been named Loeb Fellows at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.  Edward Morris and Susannah Sayler of The Canary Project have partnered with Community Energy to spread the word about green power options in New York City.  Edward and Susannah established the project in 2006, and are committed to communicating the impacts of climate change through visual arts, initially through a photography collection entitled Canary Project Photos: The Landscape of Climate Change.

As affinity partners of the ConEdison Solutions WIND Power Program, the group has promoted us at events and built awareness of our mission.  In the past several years, The Canary Project has developed a community of artists working in the space where art and ecology intersect and have executed events and shows through other visual media, events, and artwork.  The organization works with a variety of artists and designers to integrate the tools of art with those of science, education and mass communication to engage diverse audiences.

The Loeb Fellowship was founded in 1970 and offers one year of study at Harvard to outstanding mid-career professionals in fields related to the man-made and natural environment.  At Harvard, Edward will study arts as a persuasive tool and the history of perceptions about nature in the United States.  He intends to develop a greater understanding of the effects of climate change on particular environments and what can be done to mitigate these effects,  while Susannah will study the science, policy, and ethics regarding climate change, along with landscape representation and public art.
