Community Energy Gets Green
Community Energy is proud to announce the formation of the Green Team - Team Verde - here at the office! This new group is entirely voluntary and is dedicated to making our company and our personal lives as sustainable and environmentally-friendly as possible. It’s been a great way for employees to get together and actively learn and discuss what we can do to improve our environmental footprints. With so many of us interested in the environment on a personal level, forming
this team is a great opportunity to bring those ideals into the workplace.
Begun under the guidance of our ever resourceful office manager, Beth Karpinski, the Green Team has quickly split into several smaller teams to better coordinate an effective plan of action. One such group is the Volunteer Team, which works to set up monthly volunteer activities open to all employees. These activities often revolve around the environment in the form of trash cleanup, park beautification or tree planting. Another group is the Recycling Team, which seeks to educate employees on the basics of recycling and ensure our office is equipped with the necessary connections to recycle all types of materials. Yet another group is the Education Team, which seeks to create fun and informative materials to educate co-workers about how to be more sustainable.
It’s been great to see the level of excitement and commitment the Green Team has elicited in the office so far. Over time we hope to get more and more people involved and do as much as possible to spread the word on sustainability in the office space and beyond!
