If your goal is to address your indirect emissions from grid-connected electricity use, RECs are the way to go. RECs are the currency for tracking and trading renewable energy and they help build the demand for new renewable energy project development.
When making a REC purchase look for a Green-e® Energy certified renewable energy marketer – such as Community Energy. Because RECs are intangible products, Green-e® Energy requires its certified marketers to be independently audited each year.
