This is Why We Need Voluntary Markets



Following the debate on Capitol Hill on the federal renewable portfolio standard is a real reminder of the importance of voluntary renewable energy markets. Here we are, starting with a proposal that would have electric utility companies getting 25% of their electricity from renewable resources, like wind and solar, by 2020. By the time the bill is readying for a vote we are down to the possibility of 12% renewables by 2020.

There is No Away



Now that spring is finally upon us, the urge to clean out the closets, the garage and the shed is strong. But the realization that we are responsible for the proper disposal of everything we own is daunting. We can no longer pretend that when we put things at the curb they simply disappear with out an environmental trace.  What to do?

Energia Ecologica Para Todos



Members of the Community Energy team recently attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil a solar photovoltaic (PV) system at The Goodwin Memorial Branch of the Hartford Public Library in Hartford, Connecticut.   The 8-kW solar system is the first installation of the 10 kW the City has earned through the Connecticut Clean Energy Communities program and is valued at approximately $80,000.
