April 20, 2009 Good News on Climate ChangeFinally, some good news on the climate change front. It turns out that, according to a study by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) , that cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 70% this century can greatly diminish the threats from global warming. The NCAR press release is clear to confirm that emissions caused by human activities have already changed the climate and, left unchecked, will lead to dire circumstances for us and... |
March 30, 2009 You Break It, You Buy ItSo China’s top climate change negotiator has laid down the gauntlet. First, we need to address a theme of my work here on the Community Energy blog: the chicken or the egg question of carbon emissions. If you buy the product, who owns the carbon emissions?... |
February 12, 2009 Miniature Turbine, Big HitAnyone who has stopped by or enrolled in a clean energy program at one of Community Energy’s many community outreach tables may have noticed our miniature 1-foot model wind turbines made from pewter. In the fall, the editors of Norwalk, Connecticut-based E, The Environmental Magazine, noticed our miniature model and thought one would make the perfect prop for their upcoming “Wind Power” issue. Yes, that’s a model wind turbine... |
