Who is Your Community?



When presented with the task of writing this specific blog, ideas overwhelmed me.  I could discuss consumer decisions, President Obama’s address to Congress, carbon’s role in the coming year, or new buildings incorporating renewable and sustainable ideas.  As you can see, my mind was a flurry of neuron transmissions.  But, I decided I wanted my topic to be much closer to Community Energy, our Customer.

Going the extra Yards



This past weekend, I took a moment to relax and enjoy my favorite local beer, Yards Philly Pale Ale. As I savored the taste of this crisp and hoppy ale, I wondered, “how ‘green’ is this beer?” Being that Philadelphia is the biggest small city (ever?), I have quite a few friends that work at Yards that were able to shed some insight into this question.

A Faulty Furnace Leads to Green Discoveries



A few months ago, not long after I begrudgingly decided it was finally time to turn on the heat, I noticed that my house wasn’t really warming up.  After closer inspection I realized that the gas furnace itself was not able to keep pressure, and the safety valve continued to trip after the furnace would ignite. Hmmm… time to call someone.

The Changing Face of the Utility Industry



Community Energy has been working with electric utilities for ten years (Happy Anniversary!).   I have had the privilege of working with our utility partners for four, and we are proud to be part of some very successful green power partnerships.  This has given me the opportunity to experience the internal cogs of some utilities.
