Topic: Assorted Green, Sustainability

When presented with the task of writing this specific blog, ideas overwhelmed me.  I could discuss consumer decisions, President Obama’s address to Congress, carbon’s role in the coming year, or new buildings incorporating renewable and sustainable ideas.  As you can see, my mind was a flurry of neuron transmissions.  But, I decided I wanted my topic to be much closer to Community Energy, our Customer.

Community Energy has over 110,000 customers nationwide, and they use various amounts of energy and they buy for very different reasons.  I’d like to We are a Communitytake a minute to introduce our customers to each other and to the reader.

Community Energy partners with 17 electric suppliers that offer renewable energy to their customers.   Each electric service territory has different demographics, and different local concerns.  Some of our customers are buying renewable energy because they need LEED certification.  Some of our customers are buying renewable energy because they think wind turbines are beautiful and want to see more of them.  Some of our customers are buying renewable energy because their kids told them to.

The common thread throughout is that people are concerned about energy.
The people that we talk to are concerned about fighting to lower the cost of energy.  They are concerned about making energy production more local.  They are concerned about cleaner air.  They are concerned that their utility company is making decisions as an environmental steward.  They are concerned that their neighbor is doing the same.

Our customers span all segments of society.  Market researchers may say differently, but I say individuals make the market.  Each of our customers has an individual concern.  Community Energy is here to bring a community of individual renewable energy proponents together.
