Today Community Energy welcomes a new member of our supply team. Jon Keeney joins us from Paul Smith’s College where he majored in Business Management and Entrepreneurial Studies. What’s really exciting about Jon’s joining Community Energy is that Paul Smith’s College is a long-time Renewable Energy Credit (REC) customer of Community Energy. When you ask Jon why he wanted to get into renewable energy, he talks about going to a school with such a heightened consciousness around renewable energy and environmental issues.  We talk a lot about the environmental value of purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) and here is a really nice example of one of the peripheral benefits of academic institutions making REC purchases: they are setting a tangible example that is inspiring the next generation of citizens to make a difference.

The supply team manages our contract portfolio of RECs and carbon offsets from a variety of technologies – including wind, solar, and landfill gas – from projects in over 20 states, and adding Jon expands our ability to serve customers and manage the tracking of our products.
