It’s really nice to work for a company that cares for and gives back to its community.  It might not seem like much, but working for a conscientious company that encourages employee volunteering creates satisfaction that extends far beyond the job itself.  Recently, our company began to officially sanction and support its employees' volunteer efforts by granting two half-days a year to leave work and donate time to a charitable organization.  Volunteering has long been an important component of many employees’ personal lives, but getting the encouragement from the company makes it even easier to give back.

In addition, employees have recently organized to form an official Volunteer Activity Committee to plan organized volunteer opportunities each month.  Staff have researched and promoted a number of volunteer projects this month revolving around Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22nd.  The weekend before Earth Day will find us cleaning and rebuilding a local park in Philadelphia.  Earth Day itself we’re planning to assist at a local animal shelter as well as clean up a block in Philadelphia.  Later in the month we’ll be doing an outdoor trail cleanup.  With the support of our company behind us, giving back to the community has never been easier.
