At Community Energy we are proud to partner with more than 100,000 residential utility customers to spark the demand for fuel free electricity.  We are especially excited about   our partnership with the City of Naperville, Illinois.

The Department of Energy’s National Resource Energy Lab identified the Naperville Renewable Energy Program as 6th in the country for participation in 2008, out of 850 such programs!

Currently, over 4,400 households and numerous small businesses are signed up to pay  $5.00 or more a month on their electric bills to support the building of Illinois wind farms and solar projects.

The Naperville program’s product mix consists of 70% Illinois wind, 29% small hydro and 1% Illinois solar.  A portion of the solar for the program comes from three homes in Naperville that have installed solar panels on their roofs!

Residents and businesses that join utility programs help secure our energy future, enjoy the environmental benefits of a cleaner local environment and contribute to job creation in their area.

By contributing to the development of renewable energy here in Illinois, the Naperville program has saved over 21million pounds of CO2 from going into our air.  This is equivalent to planting almost 9,000 acres of trees!

According to a recent report put out by Illinois State University, Illinois ranks 10th in the US in wind power, creating 6,019 fulltime jobs during construction periods and 292 permanent jobs in rural Illinois.

The goal for 2009 is to have 5,000 Naperville households enrolled in the City’s program to reach 10% participation. If you live or work in Naperville, we invite you to join your neighbors in supporting clean home grown energy. If you are located elsewhere, check with your local utility to see if you have the opportunity to make a positive impact on your energy future.
