My Life, Fully Green-Powered
Send this blog to a friend
A recent work project triggered an in-depth exploration of our current small business customer list. To my great pleasure I discovered that we have loads of customers across a wide spectrum of businesses here in New York City. I challenged myself to think about living off of only the products and services offered by our green-powered small businesses, and realized how simple it’d be! Here’s what a week in my life as a green-powered consumer in NYC might look like…
Monday
Forgot to pack a lunch! Walk to the conveniently-located City Bakery for their killer lunch buffet.
Tuesday
Afternoon meeting over coffee at Mott Street’s Gimme! Coffee, with a unique menu of sustainable coffees.
Wednesday
Haircut at Soho’s John Masters Organics salon, just in time for the weekend. The products are so gentle my hair stays soft for weeks!
Thursday
Travel uptown for dinner at Pisticci restaurant for some fresh Italian food and artwork from local artists.
Friday
Happy Hour at Lunasa Bar, the hip and friendly East Village Irish Pub.
Saturday
Shopping in Brooklyn. Head to Bird in a LEED-certified space to add some one-of-a-kind sustainable pieces to my wardrobe.
Sunday
Laundry and dry cleaning at the true eco-friendly dry cleaning company, Green Apple Cleaners, picked up and dropped off by their eco-fleet of vehicles.
The fact that I could make a week of almost exclusively using products and services from Community Energy’s green power customers is really a tribute to the great commitment that businesses have made to support renewable energy. Look for our green-powered window decal to spot businesses in your ‘hood!
