Ahhhhh, finally! After what seemed to be a really long and cold winter, the temperature is warming, the days are getting longer, and the freshness in the air reminds us that spring’s arrival is just around the corner. I don’t know about you, but I am more than ready to get outside and start enjoying the warmer weather!
To kick off spring (just a few days early) on March 18th, Community Energy will be sponsoring an outdoor music event, “A Breath of Fresh Air” – which is one of many music events that will be taking place during the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. Several artists will be featured from noon to 5pm at this venue, and Community Energy is proud to be working with the organizers, Ripple Entertainment, Organic Entertainment and September Gurl, to make this event wind-powered!
Community Energy will provide 30,000 kilowatt hours of wind-generated renewable energy certificates, the equivalent to powering 2.5 average homes with wind power for one year; and 53 metric tons of certified carbon offsets, which is comparable to NOT taking 87 round trip flights from New York City to Austin, Texas, to offset the carbon footprint of this event.
Who doesn’t love outdoor music?? We think wind power and fresh new tunes is the perfect combination to welcome spring’s arrival. If you’ll be in Austin, we hope you can check it out!
