Summertime is fast approaching, and for some parts of the country, summertime temperatures have already arrived!  I find it valuable to review energy saving tips each season ; to save both energy and money!

The Consumer Energy Center lists useful summer energy saving tips: click here to read the complete list online.  Some of the tips I found most interesting are:

• Cooking with your microwave uses two-thirds less electricity as using the stove, and does not heat up the kitchen!

• Surprise! Using the dishwasher uses less water than hand washing – and uses even less energy if you select the air-dry option.

• The more food in the fridge, the less energy it uses to keep it cool, so stock up!

• Weather-strip leaky windows and doors to avoid the escape of the air conditioned indoor air

The tips above, and a majority of those listed on the website, can be implemented whether you live in an apartment or house.
Have a fun (and energy efficient) summer!
