Human Resources Manager

Community Energy, Inc., a rapidly-growing renewable energy company based in Radnor, Pennsylvania, is currently seeking candidates for a part-time (approx. 12-15 hours/week) Human Resources Manager. The position will report directly to the President.

  • Recruiting
    • Create job descriptions; post jobs; respond to candidate inquiries; circulate resumes
    • Coordinate interview scheduling and interview process
    • Conduct thorough reference checks for assigned candidates
    • Conduct interviews; document and distribute interview notes
    • Assist President in generating offer letters and compensation terms; review for consistency and accuracy
    • Maintain new hire packet; ensure all new hire documentation (I9, etc.) is complete 
  • Benefits
    • Manage Open Enrollment annually
    • Regularly review plans and make changes as needed; stay current on health care trends and make recommendations
    • Maintain benefits budget; review invoices for vendors
    • Maintain all Plan docs; respond to employee inquiries/questions
    • Administer COBRA; ensure premiums are collected by A/R
  • Payroll
    • Ensure all employee changes, new hires, deduction/withholding changes, direct deposit, etc. are captured and sent to payroll company (Advantage)
    • Process payroll on a semi-monthly basis
    • Liaison with payroll vendor and employees to reconcile issues/questions as needed
  • Employee Relations
    • Assist managers and employees with conflict resolution, change management, mediation, etc. as needed
  • Administrative/Other
    • Maintain employee files; ensure safety and confidentiality
    • Review compensation/salary studies as necessary
    • Maintain Employee Handbook
    • Maintain company Org Charts
    • Create executive-level HR presentations as requested; generate reports and data as needed for President/Board/investors/etc.
    • Monitor relevant compliance issues (i.e. federal, state, and local laws/regulations as pertain to HR responsibilities)
    • Provide facilities support in miscellaneous tasks, including ordering new employee equipment, liasioning with IT vendor, maintaining office supply levels, etc.

 Candidates are Required to Possess the Following:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an HR generalist; including specific experience in payroll administration and familiarity with payroll terms and practices
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an office facilities/IT support/administrative role
  • Complete proficiency in MS Office, including PPT
  • Demonstrated experience in trouble-shooting and general knowledge of basic office equipment such as PDAs, laptops, printers, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and facilitate swift, efficient communication between teams
  • Flexible and change-oriented; able to cheerfully and energetically adapt to and implement changing policies and procedures
  • Above-average communication skills; including the ability to gather accurate information; present information succinctly; and answer employees’ inquiries clearly and with warmth
  • Above-average ability to tolerate unknowns and function in a rapidly-growing, regularly fluctuating environment
  • Above-average interpersonal skills, necessary for interviewing, communicating with, and welcoming prospective employees and co-workers and for employee relations tasks
  • Experience implementing new procedures and negotiating change

Preference May be Given to Candidates Who Posses the Following:

  • Degree or certification in relevant field of study (i.e. Business, HR, etc.) or PHR/SPHR certification obtained or in-progress
  • Experience working in a small or start-up company
  • Experience using MS Visio
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry

Metro NYC Outreach Coordinator

Community Energy, a leading national wind energy marketer, is seeking an energetic, self-starter with a passion for promoting clean energy in and around New York City.  Help promote clean, home-grown wind power and make a difference by signing up new residential and small business customers!  This is a grass roots effort and lots of fun.

Responsibilities include:  

• Enroll new customers in the Con Ed Solutions WIND Power   program in New York City and Westchester, Orange and Rockland counties.  www.communityenergyinc.com/nyc

• Enroll new customers in clean energy programs offered in New Jersey, Long Island, and Connecticut.   www.communityenergyinc.com

• Responsible for meeting direct sales and marketing goals

• Manage day-to-day activity, operations and scheduling for NYC metro team

• Manage part-time staff of 3-5

• Help organize direct outreach and education efforts in NYC metro area
• Weekend work is required

Sales and marketing channels may include:

• Event marketing

• Tabling at retail locations

• Presenting to community/environmental groups

• Grass-roots networking through local organizations/neighborhoods

• Community-based web marketing

Qualifications:

• Sales, Marketing or Grass Roots Campaign experience is helpful

• Interest in or knowledge of renewable energy industry

• Desire to make a difference

• Familiarity with NYC metro area – NYC, Westchester, Orange, Rockland, NJ, LI, CT

• Access to a reliable vehicle is highly desirable

Compensation is commission based with first year earning potential of $60,000+.  Excellent benefits offered after 90 days.

Internship Opportunities with Community Energy

Community Energy, Inc. is looking for interns to join its fun, professional and dynamic team!   This is a great opportunity for a college student or recent graduate to gain real life experience with a small business in clean energy technologies, policy and green marketing while being exposed to a wide variety of job roles and responsibilities.  The ideal candidate would be available for a minimum of 10 hours per week, must be flexible, professional and able to manage multiple tasks.  Responsibilities may include research, administrative assistance, customer service and heading up special projects.

Qualifications:
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-directed and able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
• This is an unpaid position
